What is the Initial Consultation?

How does Online Training Work?
Online dog training works mostly the same way an in-person training program would, except that the communication happens through a video call between you and your certified dog trainer. Each session is, scheduled based on the training plan your trainer set up for you. To teach you techniques and behaviors, your certified dog trainer will use high quality easy to follow video or do a live demonstration with their dog. Then when it’s your turn, trainer will coach you through it.
A feedback report and link to your recorded session will be sent to our online platform that can be accessed at anytime. Review and homework is sent after each online training session and sometimes includes supplemental reading or videos and the homework for the week.
Preparing for your session
- Watch Zoom’s video on getting yourself set up. (Note: Zoom is free for you to use. Currently, the free version limits meeting times to 40 minutes. Since we have a paid subscription, we don’t have that time limit when we host a meeting and you don’t have to pay for Zoom.)
- Use Zoom’s test feature to test your internet connection, video and audio ahead of the scheduled meeting time.
- You’ll need a laptop, phone or tablet with a webcam, a decent internet connection and access to Zoom. A laptop or computer with a webcam is easiest, but a phone or tablet will work.
- If using a smartphone or tablet, When you are doing lessons with your pup prop it up or use a tripod so you and your dog are in the frame.
- Choose a well-lit, quiet location or put on a set of headphones.
- If you want to practice with you pup. You will want to have a nice supply of dog treats and a hungry dog. You’ll want to have your dog’s leash handy, as well as any other items needed for your class exercises.
